Lou Angelo
Lou Angelo began playing drums in 1974. Playing in a variety of local bands, Lou wound up in a band with local Country Artist, Paul Heagy, in the mid 1980s. Paul gave Matt his first opportunity to play years earlier, and it was through Paul that Matt and Lou met and began working together.
In 1991, Matt asked Lou to go to Philadelphia to play at a Duane Allman Tribute, and the Matt Barranti Band was born. Since then they have played countless shows at hundreds of clubs and released several recordings.
Some of the events Lou and Matt have played are as follows: The First Annual Duane Allman festival, The Dixie Rock Festival, The Pittsburgh Three Rivers Regatta, The Arden Blues Festival, The Pittsburgh Blues Festival, Jerry Fest, Hazen, The Six String Shoot-out, The Slider's Ball in Macon Georgia, and many many others. Some of the venues include, The Slippery Noodle, Indianapolis IN, The Metropol, Pittsburgh PA, The Coca Cola Starlake Amphitheater, Pittsburgh PA, The Big Boulder Ski Resort, Mt. Pocono, PA, The Grand Opera House, Macon, GA, and more. Some of the Artists Matt has performed and/or shared billing with include, Thom Doucette, The Toler Brothers, Lee Roy Parnell, Dru Lombar, Derek Trucks, Wet Willie, Toy Caldwell, REO Speed Wagon, Jeff Heally, James Cotton, and many others.
